making the most of winter

We're having a much more "winter-like" winter than we did last year, and we're trying to make the most of it. When we lived in New Mexico, I actually missed the change of the seasons. It's weird, to be honest. Because I always feel like I get the "winter blahs," but at the same time it was so hot for so long there that you couldn't even go outside for more than 10 minutes. So the "summer blahs" were almost like the same thing.

Since I've experienced the total opposite, I try so hard to appreciate what I have to the fullest. It's hard, but I try to remind myself of it as often as possible.

So on Friday, the kids and I went outside to play around in the snow, and so I could practice with the new lens I got for Christmas, and they barely looked at me the whole time. They had a blast. Shepherd loves sledding. I think pretty soon he will be ready for snow-tubing. That's something I've never done, but I would love to try it.

Zoey still likes picking up the snow, tasting it, and trying to throw it. Poor thing had the runniest nose ever, but she didn't cough once when we were outside, so that's a win in my book.

I still have a LOT to learn on this lens. It has a much longer learning curve that the previous one I was using. I want to learn to use it, because it seems like it has more range, but it is HARD. Sigh.
