It would be so much easier to just say, "Next time you kick my seat, I'm turning your music off!" and then let the kid go ahead and keep on kicking you. In my quest to raise a non-spoiled child, I turned the music off, and also suffered getting kicked in the back and screamed at for a 25-minute drive through rush hour traffic.
Sometimes I see why people take the easy way out.
I have so been there. Our solution generally is that we take the kicker's shoes off, as kicking is not nearly as fun in socks. Way to stick to your guns though!
ReplyDeleteI so hear you on this! Today M was being a straight up jerk so I was like, "Okay, kid. Logical consequences. If you can't listen to what other people are saying and be polite then you can't go on a playdate. So I need to see an attitude improvement or I'm calling your friend's mom and canceling."
ReplyDeleteAnd like 5 seconds after that came out of my mouth I was like, "Dammit. I so need those two kid-free hours. Please, please, please behave so you can go on your playdate. I really don't want to follow through on this..."
